What Makes Mobile Soul Special?

Our Story

Mobile Soul began in 2015 as a grocery delivery and meal prep service in Raleigh, North Carolina. Over time, at the request of our clients and friends, services such as party and corporate event catering, Biscuit Club pop-ups, cooking lessons, and food photography have been added to the list of ways that we bring you unforgettable food experiences.

More recently, our online presence has evolved to include this blog which documents my own personal food journey as well as the growth of my food business. We also develop visual content and digital guides to help translate what we’re learning in the Mobile Soul kitchen to our readers/followers/clients all over the world.

Our Ingredients

We love using fresh, simple, seasonal ingredients as often as possible. We also realize that this isn’t always an option so we often highlight “shortcut” ingredients and show our readers how frozen, canned, and store-bought substitutes can sometimes be used and adjusted to make meals that are just as delicious and either save them time, money, or both.

Our Recipes

Our recipes have been tested and written so that home cooks at any level can understand them. They will include a list of ingredients and step-by-step instructions for completing the dish. Please refer to the notes for additional information that clarifies the process.

With that being said, one of the ultimate goals for starting Mobile Soul and this blog, in particular, is to help readers and clients become more comfortable in the kitchen without using recipes. Recipes should be used for inspiration and as a general guideline, but having to follow a recipe step-by-step forever can be time-consuming, and it can stifle creativity.

We encourage readers to browse and use as much or as little of our recipe collection for inspiration. The posts about food theory, history, culture, and why certain things happen when we cook are great for gaining overall knowledge to apply as you see fit. Leave questions or comments in the comment sections below each post – we love responding to them.

Our People

I have served and worked with some of the most brilliant and creative community leaders, artists, and business owners in North Carolina. Between hosting pop-up experiences and catering events for corporate clients, it is clear that Mobile Soul has partnered with people who care – not only about providing delicious food for their guests but also about supporting small, Black-owned, and women-owned businesses.

Our Purpose

Mobile Soul exists to provide a few things:

(1) World-class food experiences (corporate catering, private brunches, dinners, pop-up event catering) that highlight simple ingredients and under-told stories;

(2) An ever-growing record of recipes, food experiences, and sources of food inspiration for those on their own food journeys;

(3) A community where home cooks feel safe to learn, grow, share, and connect no matter their background, occupation, socioeconomic status, etc.
