Hi there. I just wanted to take the time and write out some of my excitement about last night. Not too much is official yet, but this Taste Club thing is happening. I wanted to bring exclusive and experimental dishes to a select group of open-minded and curious people in the city, and last night it happened for the first time.
Saturday night (really Sunday morning around 1 AM), I was sitting there playing video games with one of my best friends, Eddie. I had mentioned my Taste Club idea before, but this time was different. Between the delirium, the craving for crab cakes, and other mind-altering substances, we actually set things into motion.
Eight hours later, I went to the grocery store, and he got started on inviting people. Despite a somewhat rocky start, the night was perfect. I met some very interesting, warm, and thought-provoking people. We were able to share our opinions and tastes for and against things relating to music, food, relationships, and religion. It was random and slightly chaotic, but it was also the most perfect food experience I’ve had in a long, long time. I’m so excited to see what’s next for me and all of my new Taste buds (yes, this is what we’re calling ourselves. Shoutout to Joshua Galloway, a marketing and visual storytelling genius, if I’ve ever known one, for the idea.)
The menu
- Crab cakes with a yogurt dill dipping sauce
- Roasted vegetable salad with a lemon dijon vinaigrette
- Beer-battered salmon
- Cauliflower and chickpea fritters with a 2 types of herb spreads and melted butter on the side (shown below)
- Strawberry & cream cheese bread pudding with a cream cheese drizzle
- BONUS: Snickerdoodles & peanut butter cookies (because I needed to get rid of some cookie dough I had in the fridge)
What’s next?
The Taste Club is an intimate tasting event for the chill-and-curious foodie type. Dishes will be featured in this setting long before they hit the blog, my mailing list, or social media. Membership opportunities available soon. More information about our next tasting will be posted in early March 2020. New location. New menu. Same great tastes.
Never miss an update – Follow me on Instagram and/or join the Mobile Soul family by signing up for the mailing list. 99% of the time, I will only send one email a week.
Until next time,
Lena Cocina
